those memories
ya know those memories that never seem to fade? the ones that have stuck with you since second grade some are the ones that you don't want to stay, but others you wish you could just replay . and go back in time to when things were all good and the world was just you and your neighborhood with the kids and the games and the after school snacks and the homework that never came out of backpacks . when scooters and bikes would litter the yards and backyard baseball was full of all-stars when shots on goals scuffed and damaged the fence and wall ball games left garage doors with dents. . for us, there was one kid we all wanted on our team not because of his spiral, jump-shot or four seam and not because he was the fastest kid in the game, but because he was always the first to take the blame. . when the window shattered, he wasn't up to bat but when punishment was served, he's the one who sat. when a teammate of his decided to cheat he'd stand up and take the heat . he didn't change one bit, even as he grew he always had your back and it didn't matter who you were, where you were from, or what you looked like all were his friends, he didn't have a type . this kid taught me what friendship really meant it's clear to me that he was heaven sent by a God who gives so generously and gave me those precious memories
