the redo exp: hire
After a call with Shi, a case with Cam, another case with Blakely, walking interviews with half of the top dawgs during my SLC day trip, and a zoom call with Sterling
all I could do was wait.
From what I had gathered it was me vs another guy named Austin –
a business consultant with “lots of intellectual horsepower”, but maybe not all the personable skills and energy I was bringing to the table.
I was bugging Shi over text,
I was sending emails to Blakely and Cam,
I was trying to find any connection that could put in another good word for me.
I was running out of options.
I felt like one more effort might give me the edge and get me the offer. I decided to analyze all of the checkout carts for Redo’s carousel customers from their website.
I spent hours one night and into the next day looking at text, positioning, coloring, logos, pricing and more. I put together a pitch deck and sent a video of myself presenting on the insights I gathered and what I would do to improve the Redo checkout experience.
I took Sterling’s advice about being scrappy and finding Redo a customer and contacted several of Elise’s friends, mrdave, and anyone I knew with a Shopify store trying to sell Redo before I even knew exactly what I was selling 😂.
It felt desperate, but it was all I could do. All of this was happening during the two trips we had planned during paternity leave.
Calls and texts during our Vegas trip and flights.
Emails and presentations during our Lake week.
CHAOS.
But ultimately, all that effort landed me the job!
The day we got home from lake week I got a call from Shi. I was waiting in line at Teriyaki Madness and stepped out to hear. She told me that I had been selected.
After dozens of applications and rejections, several calls, and a handful of interviews, I had finally landed an offer.
And better yet, it was probably the best offer I could have received.
God is good 💛.
