changed the world
A poem written for Grace. Mother's Day 2022 ______
on business in Chicago a stressed single mom of four, trying to make a life for her kids, was fighting her own war
and then one day she met a soldier, in his own right, he had his battles, too and he was putting up a fight
it wasn’t long before the two joined forces hand in hand though it likely wasn’t the life they had each originally planned
but Someone else had in mind this union from the start He knew that it would happen and He played a vital part
and now that things were going well the six added number seven the reason she’s called Grace, you ask? because she’s divinely given
and she had hopes and dreams to one day change the world some encouraged and some laughed “Oh, what a precious, little girl”
and i can tell she sometimes thinks her life hasn’t gone to plan but i would just remind her the same happened to that man
and woman in that windy city several decades in the past it seems to be their family story from the first page to the last
and even though that story isn’t exactly as she wrote it out maybe now it’s better because the Author’s the editor now
so on those days when all is bleak, with clouds of shame and regret, she probably thinks back to her dreams how could she forget
of how she wished she could have made a splash with her degree or had a brilliant idea that changed the course of history
but those aren’t the only ways to change the world for good in just a few words i’d share this with her if i could
you’ve changed my life for good and that is hardly the start of this life that we began that day you stole my heart
and if it weren’t for you we wouldn’t have our precious, little girl that is why, in my eyes, you’ve already changed the world 💛
